News Commentary. For the past week, I’ve suffered one of the worst viral infections I’ve had in years. Sickness gives me unexpected perspective on Steve Jobs withdrawing from giving January’s Macworld keynote. I don’t believe that Apple’s CEO is well. That’s not to say he is truly sick or that cancer has returned. But the vibrant energy he once had is gone. The Macworld keynote would be too much for him. Even recent Apple events clearly demanded too much of Steve. He looked lean—no, gaunt—and didn’t prance around the stage as in presentations just two years ago.
